About Desiree'

Welcome to Happy Spirit Healing Arts!

I am honored to share with you about why I do what I do.

For me, giving a massage is a cellular action. It all began when I was about 4 years old when my Mother asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I  wanted to be a Nurse and a Telephone Operator.

The 'Nurse' in me evolved throughout the years as I acknowledged how I felt when my actions or presence would help to alleviate the suffering of others.  My own Mother, who suffered from debilitating migraine headaches, was my first client .

I remember feeling desperate to help her to feel better. She showed me where to press into the muscles between her shoulder blades where the headache producing 'knots' lived.  I distinctly remember feeling them release under my touch. What was significant to me was the relief from suffering that she experienced. I knew then that helping others to feel well was something I would always want to do.

Over the years, people would say that I have 'magic hands' and eventually I heard them say "have you ever thought of being a massage therapist?". My secondary education was focused on medicine and allied health as I had every intention of becoming a nurse. After after highschool I worked in service jobs for 20+ years  in one capacity or another (In quite a few phone service jobs, too...I love the phone!). Maybe my love of the voice was borne from this...or maybe my love for the phone was borne from my love of the power of the Voice!

I finally heard  the call to practice massage therapy in 2001. (No, it wasn't from a phone! :))

I began to experience a sense of urgency that I couldn't shake. I HAD to do what my Spirit is called to do: Help others by alleviating their suffering through acts of compassion.

Working in jobs that did not ignite my passion for serving others was no longer satisfying.

The phrase "If not now, then WHEN?" became my mantra. I took an indepth look into my Soul and asked myself one question: "What would I do for the rest of my life for free as if money didn't matter?" What came pouring from that question was so loud: "MASSAGE!".

Of course! I love touch. I love sharing energy with another Spirit. I love to help.

For the last 8 years I have immersed myself in education about various forms of healing and the mind/body/spirit connection via formal education and by reading everything I could get my hands upon. This lead to my interests in diversity and human rights, advocacy, mysticism, philosophy, Shamanism, Buddhism, quantum physics, neuro-linguistics, meditation, manifestation, positive affirmation, spirituality, the power and necessity of compassionate touch, and most of all, Action. During those years, I focused every ounce of my being into co-creating this moment in time. The moment to share...

I am honored and grateful to be able to share my Universal gifts of compassion and to be of service to you.

In Kindness,
Namaste'
Desiree'
